Corian was specified for the island top to provide a warm and non-porous work surface to both sit at for breakfast & snacks, and give an easy hygienic wipe-up zone. Shiny chrome pendant lights, dark stained timber floors finish off the overall effect.
Classic detailing to the cabinetry was selected as it holds its timelessness and worked with the architectural elements of the house. The Quartz top in colour “Storm” contrasts with the otherwise white palette and picks up on appliance tones.
The window seat is designed to capture the western vista, warm sunset rays and provides a relaxing intimate space in the dining-kitchen room. A place to gather and rest, the window seat inspires family connectivity.
Handy drawers built into the window seat hide school equipment, books and outdoor cushions.
Storage was optimized with full extension drawers and an on-bench-pantry cupboard which hides small appliances like the toaster, kettle and mixer. White tiles feature on the entire full-height of the kitchen wall in a subtle geometric 3D pattern which ties in with the glossy clear dining chairs patterning.
With a generous central island, Toni configured the kitchen’s layout to look outward towards family activity in the dining space and decks beyond.
Indoor outdoor flow is now a dream with the addition of a large loggia allowing for all season entertaining. Toni’s recommendations relating to Passive Solar Design ensure western sun is reduced in summer yet embraced in winter.
Considering the whole architectural design layout and flow, Toni suggested the kitchen shift into a barely used dining space so the new dining area could connect more freely with outside decks. Blocking up a window, that only revealed how close the neighbour lived, proved invaluable to achieving the newly connected and storage-rich kitchen design.
