Toni custom designed the stepped island top to satisfy the owner’s need for some visual separation to the dining area. Black Totara from Kings IV Generation was selected for its deep, rich and varied colour and for its historic value as a swamp timber, recovered from the 2000 year old eruption that formed lake Taupo.

A soft wash to the lacquered doors adds a relaxed and timeless aspect to the design, while a laundry, store room and guest bathroom behind are designed to integrate with the kitchen style.
