This kitchen design recreates the warmth of a European farmhouse kitchen, complete with a large four-oven Aga range standing at its centre. Many details contribute to this classic style - cabinetry doors following the traditional panels of the interior doors, the island’s square posts with strong backs and chamfered edging, high skirting boards on the island imitating the skirting boards in the rest of the house and the rangehood canopy including a steel rail mirroring those on the Aga cooker. The Black Totara timber for the central island links texturally with the Matai timber floors, complemented by the back granite bench tops around the Aga cooker.
The bench-top area left of the refrigerator provides a useful spot for the kids to prepare breakfasts and school lunches, and doubles as a coffee centre. Below the bench, pull-out baskets conceal convenience foods for ease of access.
