This kitchen is set within a new architecturally designed home perched on a steep site in the Waitakere’s and surrounded by lush native greenery. The owners were particularly fond of the native Kauri tree which was examined to establish the colour palette – the golden hue of the fallen leaves and rich espresso brown of the mottled trunk bark.

The natural granite benchtops are like a frozen slice of river bed, typical of the lush area surrounding the property. Toni creates harmonious balance between this rich textural quality of the granite and the smooth block colours of the gold and espresso; achieving a perfect local reference to the environment the client had hoped for.
The water filter and soap dispenser are installed into the bench-top alongside the mixer, keeping lines smooth and uncluttered.
Good design is not only about the aesthetics of a kitchen but is also about work flow and distance between the sink, hob and fridge.
