Two lineal overhead cupboard blocks are offset stacked; one clad in metallic lacquer finish connecting visually with appliances adjacent. A calm, monochromatic version of the coloured splash-back overlooks the gas cooktop.

The clients’ brief for their mid-century home was simple: a fresh contemporary kitchen with ‘soul’ and edge. As the epi-centre of social and family activity, it also needed to daily perform in a practical and enduring way.

A wallpaper design the owner had loved for years became the basis for our ‘creating soul’ and edginess. The exciting spectrum of 3D geometric, multi-coloured triangles were shaded and manipulated with a graphic designer to create an eye-catching labyrinth of translucent, overlapping and interlocking cubes on the glass splash-back.

Corian benchtops were specified to deliver a single seamless surface invisibly encasing the Rimu post. This stretches beyond the post with a gentle angle now providing comfortable, sociable seating to two sides as desired.

Integrated into the Corian benchtop is a custom-designed channel sink, perfect for potted herbs or as an ice-filled drinks chiller come party time.

The drawers are fully customised with accessories for logical organisation and workflow relevance. Seen here is a custom knife block and bread boards drawer; perfectly located in the food preparation Activity Zone.

Hidden in drawers are specific spaces for cycling water bottles, lunch boxes, oils and more. All specifically designed to meet the needs of this family.
