Initially wanting concrete benches to create the industrial look and feel of the kitchen, Toni recommended a honed granite, for durability and ease of cleaning.

To satisfy an industrial materiality, Toni explored incorporating a commercial product for the island base – a exterior concrete wall-cladding system. Collaborating closely with the fabricator, she designed a unique mold to resolve the precise corner detailing desired.
While this architect-designed kitchen appeared modern and smart, its thoughtful practicality was seriously lacking. Starting each morning arguing over who could use the prime benchspace, the owners were keen to start from scratch … and transform their kitchen’s undesirable atmosphere!
